IDX or Internet Data Exchange

Basic explanation is the process of obtaining access to a raw data feed from an MLS provider, like your local Board of Realtors. Once access is received an IDX company then takes the data or listings and transports the data into a interface that makes the inventory personally searchable from your website. How does this benefit your website you might ask? Well it is rather simple, it gives the consumer the ability to view a mass amount of inventory at their discretion making them a more quality contact when you get in touch with them, it also creates stickiness on your website and keeps the consumer attached to your site. If you provide what consumers are looking for which in the real estate world is properties then they will have no reason to leave your website. Depending on your market you may or may not have an IDX available. Some markets simply opt out, but hopefully as technology progresses and 92% of homebuyers begin their buying process online the majority of Boards will authorize the use of an IDX.
