Creating an Image Within Tutorial
Creating an image within text using Adobe Photoshop
Tutorial: Image within text effect
Software: Adobe Photoshop 6.0
Difficulty: Beginner
This Adobe web tutorial will show you how to create an image within text so that your text shows an image in the background.
Step 1: Fire up Adobe Photoshop and open the image/graphic that you would like to display within the text.
For example I used the below image of green grass. (feel free to download it to test with)

Step 2: Now you will need to select the type tool by clicking the T icon >> and choose the Type Mask Layer on the type options bar at the top of Photoshop. The Type Mask Layer Icon looks like this >>
Step 3: Now click on the image and start to type your text. Once you have finished typing your text click the tick at the top of Photoshop at the right hand side.
Your image should now show a text outline.
Step 4: Now go to Edit + Stroke and use the below settings:
Width 2px
Color Black (You can use any color)
Location Inside
Mode Normal
Opacity 100%
Click OK (You will now see a border around the text outline.
Step 5: Go to Edit + Copy to copy the outlined text.
Step 6: Now you will need to go back into your layers palette and make a new layer by clicking on the create new layer icon >>
Step 7: Select the new layer that you have created and then go to Edit + Paste
In the layers palette you will see 2 layers; Layer 1 and Background
Select the background layer and delete it by clicking on the bin icon >>
That is it, your text should now contain an image within it like the below example.

I hope this Adobe Photoshop web tutorial was of help.
